HON. AFFO-TOFFEY PUTS MINISTRY’S WEIGHT BEHIND MMTL: NEW BUSES TO ANCHOR 24/7 SERVICE

3rd Oct 2025 | PR Unit

The Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) has been designated a top priority for revitalisation, with the government determined to transform the state-owned bus operator into a 24/7 service under the national 24-Hour Economy policy.

The commitment was delivered by the Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, during a familiarisation visit to MMTL.

In a brief remark she stated that, the Ministry would provide the necessary resources to support MMTL’s immediate transition to round-the-clock operations, a move which Hon. Affo-Toffey highlighted as critical for retooling MMTL with modern buses and facilities to significantly boost efficiency, allow for crucial service expansion, and enable the reactivation of numerous abandoned routes.

“I assure you that the government, through the Ministry of Transport, will provide all necessary support, whether through the acquisition of new buses or other essential resources,” the Deputy Minister affirmed. “I am confident that MMTL will regain its standing as a reliable pillar of our national transportation system.”

MMTL Managing Director Cezario Kale, Esq., acknowledged the company's past struggles but stressed the management's commitment to a corporate turnaround.

He welcomed the government”s intervention, asserting that “MMTL will serve as a catalyst in the resetting agenda.”
