MINISTER MEETS GSA AND SHIP OWNERS AND AGENTS ASSOCIATION ON THE NEW SHIPPING ACT.

The Minister of Transport has held discussions with the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) and the Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana (SOAAG) to deliberate on some challenges in the recently passed Ghana Shipping Act and its Legislative Instrument (LI).

Concerns raised included the 2% carrier tax, lengthy charge-approval periods, demurrage calculations, lien rights, and the GSA’s dual function as both shipper advocate and regulator.
