JAMESTOWN FISHING HARBOUR COMMISSIONED

His Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned the Jamestown Fishing Harbour today September 13, 2024, marking a significant milestone in Ghana's maritime industry. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to the government's commitment to improving the lives of fishermen and revitalizing the local economy.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering, including:

Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, First Lady Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, Greater Accra Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover,  Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, Chief Director of Ministry of Transport, Mrs. Mabel Asi Sagoe, Director-General of Port and Harbour Authority Michael Achagwe Luguje, Various Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Chiefs and traditional leaders from the Ga-Dangbe traditional lands and other Special invited guests.

In his address, the Minister of Transport expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the realization of the President's vision. He recalled the President's promise to the people of Jamestown in 2016 and commended his leadership. The Minister also extended special appreciation to the Government of China, the Chinese Ambassador, the Ga state, and the Harbour Authority. He paid tribute to the late Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Madam SUN Baohong, for her contributions to the project.

The President in his speech expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Government of China, the Chinese Ambassador, the Ga state, and the Harbour Authority. The commissioning of the harbour is a testament to the strong partnership between Ghana and China. The President extended warm appreciation to President Xi Jinping and the people of China for their continued support and cooperation
